Followup to Lifeguard that was shot PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, July 27 2010 12:19

Teens may have been target shooting which lead to a stray bullet hitting the lifeguard, according to a press release from the O'Fallon Police Department.

According to Officer Diana Damke, a tip was received after the numerous stories aired in regard to the female lifeguard that was injured from a bullet on Sunday at the Twin Chimney’s Pool. The tip led to the 7000 block of Highway N, which is in unincorporated St. Charles County, where several subjects had been target shooting around the time of occurrence.

The investigation revealed there were five individuals target shooting into a hillside, which was in the direction of the Twin Chimney’s Subdivision. The Twin Chimney’s Pool was located approximately 7/10 of a mile to the south. Four .22 caliber rifles were seized for ballistics comparison with the recovered projectile. The subjects target shooting were two eighteen year old males and one seventeen year old male from O’Fallon, one eighteen year old female from St. Peters, and one eighteen year old male from Warrenton.

Upon receiving the lab results this case will be forwarded to the PA's office for review.  It will probably take several weeks to get the results. The property owner where the subjects were target shooting was advised that is was unsafe to shoot on the property.
