MoDOT had until March 2 to commit all of the $524 million in stimulus funds to projects. So far, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Committee has awarded nearly 200 projects. MoDOT says since it started bidding out jobs early, it was able to save millions. It was able to commit to more than 50 other projects. Missouri was the first state in the country to have a project started just minutes after President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
