After months of delay, seven of St. Charles’ 10 City Council members have signed on as co-sponsors of an ordinance to increase city water and sewer fees beginning Sept. 1 to handle existing operating expenses. That’s one more than the six positive votes needed for passage, so it’s likely the bill will be passed in the next few weeks. Story in St. Louis Post Dispatch |

From days of long ago, from uncharted regions of the universe, comes a legend; the legend of Voltron, Defender of the Universe, a mighty robot, loved by good, feared by evil. Yes, fans, we’re talking about a ‘Voltron’ movie finally coming together. The producers behind ‘Get Smart’ and ‘The Dark Knight,’ Charles Roven, Richard Suckle and Steve Alexander, have acquired the rights to make a live-action feature film adaptation of the classic, cartoon series. They obtained rights from the St. Louis-based World Events Productions, a company that has held the rights to the property for more than two decades. Story at We Are Movie Geeks |

Torchwood is one of my favorite TV series because it’s built on top of a great TV legend, Doctor Who. Torchwood is a spin off series of the rebooted Doctor Who and it’s ran for a few seasons. It’s different than Doctor Who because it handles more adult topics and it’s language and violence and even sex can be a little over the top. Doctor Who is a family friendly show by comparison. The image materialized at 10:56:20 p.m. from an inhospitable place and a distance of 250,801 miles. It was grainy. It was irresistible. It marked the first stride of a wondrous journey that ultimately led nowhere. It has been exactly 40 years since astronaut Neil Armstrong climbed down a ladder and stirred the powdery surface of the moon. Four days earlier, he had awakened in Florida. ''That's one small step for man,'' he said, ``one giant leap for mankind.'' Story in Miami Herald |
